Books from Internet: The greater success of the publishing industry
December 27th, 2009
A time ago I wrote an article on the worse error of the industry of the music in which the immense opportunity of businesses reproached the lack of vision of the disqueras companies when failing to take advantage of that Internet offered him.
It seems to me interesting to resist that experience with the recent evolution that has had another productive activity that moves important amounts of money throughout the world: the publishing industry.

To great publishing houses of the world the same dilemma appeared to them: to fight against the piracy in Internet or to take advantage of its potential at the time of expanding its markets. Whereas the discograficas decided to enter themselves in aplagued bloody battle of intimidations, demands and judgments to users and suppliers of Internet, accompanied of a series from pressures to the governments for the establishment of a new legislation in the matter of computer science piracy; the publishing houses have been decided to follow the way opposite.
The solution has consisted of adapting the product to a new demand through the digitalization of million titles that are offered through Internet to a price very reduced. An incentive that to abierto the doors to other industries like Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Sony and Amazon, that created portable digital book readers.
It is truth, the books continue being pirateados. If we realized a simple search we will find thousands of sites that offer complete books completely us free. Nevertheless, esteem that this type of practice does not reach to 3% of the book unloadings in Internet, a market that reports an annual gain of US$ 7,000 million.
It is not less certain that the industry of music already has taken his first steps towards a reconciliation with the community of Internet implementing a system very similar to which we mentioned for the case of books. Nevertheless, this capacitacion arrives truly behind schedule and was indeed that delay the one that established the bases of the networks of interchange of archives through Internet, the bastion of the piracy that never could be overthrown.
The phenomenon of the piracy cannot nor must demonizar itself. The piracy does not respond to a lack of scruples nor to an endemic disease of the society. It has been responding but to a fault in the market, product of the pact of prices established by an oligopoly and a demand until for time, relatively elastica industry.
