Norwegian Krone

The Norwegian krone is outlined, along with the Australian dollar and stronger currencies 2009.

kronernorpeq The economies of Norway and Australia have been showing signs of incomparable strength. First, Norway achieved between April and June 2009, a quarterly growth of 0.3%, which cut the sequence of two consecutive quarters of contraction. Moreover the country's labor market is shown north of the crisis virtually unscathed. The unemployment rate has barely rebounded from 2.1 to 2.7%, with a maximum of 3% since the summer of 2007.

As in the Australian case, the Norwegian scene is largely dominated by the rise of raw materials. If Australia is particularly linked to gold, Norway league in

his footsteps to the oil. It is the sixth largest oil exporter in the world with a daily output of around 2 million barrels, hence the expensive oil, over 70% so far this year, holding an extraordinary impact on the evolution of the European economy.

This strong economy enabled the Central Bank of Norway (Norges Bank), forward and raise interest rates a quarter point last week. Thus the cost of borrowing stands at 1.5%. The projections assume a further increase in mid-December meeting, which would leave the cost of borrowing to 1.75%. And the sequence would continue in 2010, in which the rates could reach up to 3%.

Both the rise and adopted as expected in the future are heating the value of the Norwegian krone. The Scandinavian country's currency has appreciated in value so far this year by 14% against the euro.

Far from having exhausted its upward trend, the strength of the Norwegian krone in 2009 may be extended for subsequent years. Analysts expect that, for example, the conversion to the euro is within eight crowns per euro in late 2010, almost 5% higher than now, and below the eight units from 2011.
