Unfounded attack in place of Clement Gignac

Certainly, the entrance to the National Assembly of Clement Gignac not pass unnoticed, the opposition leader, Pauline Marois, it is charged yesterday. She was accused of having betrayed the Quebec because as advisor to the Deputy Minister of Finance in Ottawa, he worked to develop a committee of Canadian Securities. Clement Gignac is the Liberal candidate in the riding of Marguerite-Bourgeois in the election on June 22 I fear that Ms. Marois hits another foul ball, as it has struck many, I fear, in recent days in an effort to revive the issue of sovereignty in Quebec, and within his party. First, Clement Gignac is an advisor to the Deputy Minister and not the minister. He is an officer, not a political advisor. When

Ms. Marois accused Premier Jean Charest "to try to get elected to the National Assembly one of the architects of the plan Flaherty," I think she grossly exaggerates. In addition, discussions for the creation of a securities commission in Canada only began there at least 15 years. Pierre Brunet, until recently chairman of the Caisse de depot, and many other personalities from Québec's financial participated actively in all that time on various committees to advance this issue. Nothing worked. Quebec has always opposed the creation of this national organization. People of the AMF in Quebec adept this file, so this is not the presence of Clement Gignac in an office in Ottawa to change anything. Finally, in the absence of a committee of Canadian Securities, Quebec could still benefit from some arrangements with other provinces to reduce the administrative burden occasioned by the refusal of Quebec to intrigue a single commission. Clement Gignac, by his experience of the financial services industry, was well placed to advance this aspect. This unfounded attack in place of Clement Gignac unfortunately demonstrates that the political debate in Quebec do not fly very high in this day and age.
